Summer
The Bitterroot Valley has an abundance of summer adventures and activities for the whole family (and your pets!). Whether you choose to explore on foot, bike or horseback there are endless trails through the canyons, scenic lakes and waterfalls, gorgeous wildflowers and prime fishing spots.
Golf
The mild Bitterroot climate means golf seasons typically extend from early April through late November, giving those interested in honing the game the chance for extended play.
Hiking
About every 15 miles along the Bitterroot Range there is a new canyon with a lush creek bottom, soaring granite walls and a lake near the end of the trail, each one with its own flavor. There are trails that lead to overlooks for these impressive canyons, trails to lakes and waterfalls, trails that meander along the creek rushes dotted with huckleberries, ferns, and wildflowers.
Horseback Riding
If you are heading out on your own, trails in the Bitterroot Valley has at least two weeks worth of riding, from easy day ride loops in the Bitterroot National Forest Horse Riding Areas to canyon trails leading to lakes. There`s also a few local outfitters who offer a variety of horseback trail rides.
Mountain Biking
With fabulous views, variety of terrain options and low traffic, Montana is the perfect place for a memorable cycling adventure. The Bitterroot Valley highways offer fabulous views for road biking. Bike along pastoral Rocky Mountain scenes and stop at the charming small towns along the way. For mountain bikers, there are two mountain ranges full of trails. Many of the Bitterroot hiking trails are also opened to mountain bikes.
Rock Climbing
Dramatic rock faces, small crowds and spectacular views make for some of the best rock climbing in Montana. You`ll find variety of terrain from sport routes to multi-pitch trad and all levels of bouldering throughout the Bitterroot Valley.
Wildlife and Birding
The Bitterroot Valley is host to a healthy wildlife population that can be seen on trails in the backcountry or out the window of your car.
